Check the deviation using the target
Place the target so that its metal pin is directly over the surface irregularity. The path of the laser lines on the scale indicates the deviation.
Depression
Laser line is to the left of the reference line
Flat surface
Laser line is on the reference line
Elevation
Laser line is to the right of the reference line
