GBH 36 V-LI, is it working right?

Hi, I recently bought a used GBH 36 V-LI drill. When on the drill only setting, it turns continuously as expected, but on any of the other settings it does a short burst then stops until I pull the trigger again and does another burst. All the bursts are exactly the same length. My old (different brand drill) didn't work like this. Is it normal or a fault? Thanks all.
