GOF 1600 CE fixed base?

Dear Bob,

I bought the GOF1600 CE router (plunge base) and its really on of the best tools i even had, so no complain there,

However, one of the reasons i bought it, is because you can swap the base for a fixed base...
Well there lies the problem, there is no way i can purchase the fixed base (GMF 1600)!

It just doesn't excist, i live in the Netherlands, and i contacted bosch service team, and they told me if i want the fixed base, i have to purchase the whole GMF 1600 set, which is crazy, i allready have the motor-unit

If you offer a router with changeable base, but not sell the base, thats a fail.

Can you help me please?

I did some research however, in the USA there is a base for sale...
the 'Bosch MRF01 Router Fixed Base for MR23-Series  '

is this the same base? am i helped if i import this base from the USA?

Thanks for the info,
Greetings from Holland

Hmmm I wouldn't automatically presume the American machine is exactly the same. There are sometimes minor differences compared to European models.

I will send an email to the product manager and see if i can get some info.

Hi Dennis.
They have listened to your request.

"The fixed base is currently being worked on as standalone accessory part number. We hope to make this available in the next three to four months."

I'm still waiting to find out if it is the same base.

 That is most excellent news!

I'll make sure to be the first one to buy one.
Unless the USA version is the same, then i'll import one ;)

Thank you for the info!

Hi Bob,
Searching Google to get a fixed base for GOF1600 CE landed  me on this thread. I am from India and am facing the same issue. Bosch market the GOF 1600 CE router  here in India and not the GMF 1600 CE . So even though I wish to buy the router with both the base, I am not able to get one. Is it possible to buy the fixed base of the router separately or any fixed base of US model which I can import. This is really critical as I want to use the fixed base for a router table while keeping the plunge base for handhold works.

Thanks and Regards
Atanu

It seems as though Bob has gone missing in action just like the customer services team with regard to the fabled 1600 CE fixed base upgrade.

I too bought the GOF 1600CE after watching a review with Alan Holtham on Youtube, in the review he says that the router package can be upgraded by purchasing the GMF fixed base later is so desired. I, like the chaps on here have searched high and low for this fabled fixed base and it transpires that it is indeed a mystical item that cannot be found anywhere online on its own.

It only resides in the far reaches of the Kingdom of Bosch where it can only be released if the full GMF package is bought at significant expense or by finding the Holy Grail, taking it to Camelot and slaying the Dragon by clubbing it to death with said holy grail.

I am frustrated at the lack of repsonse from Bosch and the fact that this router base can only be bought in its component parts which is extremely expensive.  I need to upgrade all my tools over the next few weeks with  good quality tools, customer service, accessabily of parts being the top three aspects of what I would look for, Bosch has only satisfied one so far and this router may be the first and only Bosch tool I own.

I to have contacted Bosch to buy a spare fixed base to leave permanently in  my router table and assumed from the Bosch / Alan Holtham video I would be able to buy one .Response from Bosch - ZERO. Could it be argured that Bosch are in breach of advertising standards regulations by making false promises?
PERHAPS SOME ONE IN THEIR LEGAL DEPT MIGHT READ THIS AND PONDER?
Spare fixed base can be bought for the USA version. Clearly Bosch make fixed bases but why can it take over 2 years to decide on a part number and price ? Or is it the technically challenging issue of designing the carboard box which has the german engineers defeated?.
Come on Bosch and wake up.

I've sent Bosch two emails, neither responded to. Doesn't bode well if this is their customer service standard. Big companies like Bosch rely heavily on their size and reputation  to maintain their business, a few bods like us won't dent their profit margins. There will come a time when they'll come under pressure and you can bet your last penny customer service will head the list of improvements. The Yanks wouldn't tolerate this behaviour and because the market over there is huge then it stands to reason that a stand alone fixed base for this router would be made available pretty quickly. Over here we matter not a jot.

Many online retailers use a measure called the Net Promoter Score which is a calculation of how much the customer enjoys the buying experience I would guess Bosch wouldn't score too well. I won't reccomned Bosch from now on, in fact they could learn a few lessons from Metabo whose customer service is fabulous, if only they made decent routers.....
