My new Bosch GOP18V-28N multi tool only runs for 5 seconds then turns off. Any thoughts?

stupid question, but what battery is in use and is it a healthy, charged battery?

Are you still under warranty? if so and you've tried other batteries, it might be a power fault and if so, time for a service.

I have exactly the same problem with my 3 month old GOP 18v-28. When I shake the tool there's something rattling around in the housing that contains the speed dial switch and battery terminal. There's an excellent earlier post about this problem that explains how to disassemble the tool to reattach screws and washers that have loosened under vibration. Shocking QC by Bosch.
This is the second Bosch product I've bought in the last 6 months that has failed within weeks of buying (Bosch leaf blower- vac).

There's an excellent earlier post about this problem that explains how to disassemble the tool to reattach screws and washers that have loosened under vibration.
I had this issue with a brand new "GOP18V-28" after 15 minutes of use.

Anyway, after opening up the tool, it ended up being a screw and AV washer that secures a heatsink IIRC rattling around inside.

Some of the other screws were also loose and didn't have anti-vibration washers and suggests that threadlock (if used in the manufacturing process) had not been applied.

Luckily, I had some really small AV washers and fitted them to all screws.

As you say, shocking QC and this was a Made in Hungary model.
