i have been a clumsy clot and knocked my Router POF 1400 ACE of the work bench and now it won’t turn on. Virtually brand new but out of warranty.

Any easy fix tips? Or is going on holiday to the repair shop?

Hello headbrewer.
Bad luck chap. Although part of the DIY range of tools, these things are actually pretty well put together. All contacts (brushes etc) are screwed in place and connected with well fitting crimps. My GOF 1600 by contrast has contacts that push onto place. I've had to have the top off to reseat them recently.
I'd advise taking the top off and just checking the brushes are still where they should be and the crimped wires that connect to them are in place. Always worth checking the plug fuse too as a drop might well have caused some funny business leading to it blowing.
Just found a vid on YT of a chap taking his POF 1400 apart for a service. It's in another language but you can see clearly enough what he's doing to disassemble the top. See below.

Thanks, I will have a go at the first step tomorrow to check connections. If that doesn’t work then it will go to the repairers.

fuse is ok

Good news, it’s working again. The lightbulb moment was hearing an arching noise from the switch area when trying to turn it on. Took handle apart and tried it again, arching noise coming from within capacitor. Remade 2 power supply connections and it started! So either the capacitor is breaking down or one of the supply connections wasn’t connected properly.

if you try this it is not necessary to remove the black rubber grip first - its a real pain to get it back on properly!
