Thinking of buying a Bosch 18v cordless grinder and if using a 4ah coolpack battery what sort of run time would I expect grinding steel? I can grind for hours so need to know if I'm better off keeping my corded grinder. I can see a use for cordless grinders in the field chopping metal etc but in a workshop?

The current range of grinders are available in 7, 10, 15 etc models. That's 7= a 700w corded grinder, 10= a 1000w corded grinder etc Running a 10 (1000w equivalent) you get about 1 minute of grinding per a/h of battery. Ie. My new 8.0a/h procore packs last 8 mins each. If you put a coolpack battery on the 1000w grinder you can't get the full output power from it so a 8a/h coolpack would still run for 8mins but at about 25% less power/torque so that's actually 25% less grinding you can do. The 700w version might not see any improvement when using a procore over a coolpack so you might get a bit longer out of that one but again, less actual grinding done in the same amount of time

Damn that's not a long time I expected more. I suppose its fine for little short jobs but not if your grinding a big piece. I've ordered one and wish I'd bought a corded version now
