That chinese bench drill called PBD 40
Written on
Just bought one of these not so cheap chinese PBD40 bench drill because I needed a compact tool and as I already knew thanks to the plenty of complaints that can be found on the internet, the final wobbliness of the drill bit is obscene, not for a chinese product, but surely for the price tag.
Like many did before me, I tried to remove the chuck to upgrade it but it seems bosch has been working to screw up their customers because now the chucks on the PBD40s seems to be impossible to remove.
I tried with the usual allen wrench without a cheater bar but instead of unscrewing the chuck, its locking ring mechanism broke.
Bad luck? Defective unit?
I sent the unit back and got a replacement one and tried again.
Same result.
So I got a third one.
Same result again.
The 4th is on the way.
Should I keep buying more of these bench drill, crack the chuck's locking mechanism and return them under warranty until I find a chuck that is not stuck?

avoid this at all costs. if you want a decent drilling machine that's portable and modular, there's a setup that can be built based on a Wabeco BF1243 as a good example, buy as a package with a 2 axis table and vice and you have a professional system, choose your mains or cordless drill with a 43mm collar. used this before and swear by it.
