Practical Advice

You can use the depth stop (21) to set the required drilling depth X.

  • Press the button for depth stop adjustment (19) and insert the depth stop into the auxiliary handle (20).
The fluting on the depth stop (21) must face downwards.
  • Insert the SDS-plus application tool into the SDS-plus tool holder (3) to the stop. Otherwise, the movability of the SDS-plus drilling tool can lead to incorrect adjustment of the drilling depth.
  • Pull the depth stop far enough out that the distance between the drill bit tip and the edge of the depth stop corresponds to the required drilling depth X.

  • If the application tool jams or snags, the power transmission to the drill spindle will be interrupted. Always hold the power tool firmly with both hands to withstand the forces this may create and adopt a position with stable footing.
  • Switch the power tool off immediately and remove the application tool if the power tool becomes blocked. Switching on when the drilling tool is blocked may cause high torque reactions.

The rapid shut-off function (KickBack Control) gives the user greater control over the power tool and offers them better protection than power tools that do not have Kickback Control. If the power tool suddenly and unforeseeably rotates around the drilling axis, it will switch off, the rapid shut-off indicator will light up red and the worklight (18) will flash. When rapid shut-off is activated, the status indicator (29) flashes red.

  • To switch the tool back on, release the on/off switch (12) and then press it again.

The integrated vibration damping function reduces the generated vibration.

  • Do not continue to use the power tool if the damping element is damaged.

  • Only apply the power tool to the screw/nut when the tool is switched off. Rotating tool inserts can slip off.

A universal holder (38) with SDS-plus shank (accessory) is required to work with screwdriver bits.

  • Clean and lightly grease the insertion end of the shank.
  • Insert the universal holder into the tool holder while turning it until it locks automatically.
  • Check that it is locked by pulling the universal holder.
  • Insert a screwdriver bit in the universal holder. Only use screwdriver bits that fit the screw head.
  • To remove the universal holder, slide the locking sleeve (5) backwards and remove the universal holder (38) from the tool holder.

You can use the utility hook (13) to attach the power tool to a suitable suspension device.

  • Briefly push the utility hook (13) towards the handle (11) to release the locking mechanism. The utility hook will extend backwards by itself.
  • Turn the utility hook to the side.
  • Check the utility hook (13) for damage or deformation.
Do not use the utility hook (13) if it is damaged, deformed or no longer firmly secured to the power tool.
  • Use the utility hook (13) to attach the power tool to a suspension device.
To avoid damage or injury, the suspension device must not be attached above walkways or immediate work areas.
The utility hook is intended solely for the purpose of hanging the power tool, including fitted accessories.
  • Turn back the utility hook (13) and push it with light pressure forwards and downwards into the locking position when you are working with the power tool.
  • Never use the utility hook (13) as a fall protection system.
Never attach the fall protection system to the utility hook.

Note: A fall protection system (40) that is suitable for the weight of the entire system should be used to prevent the power tool from falling. The maximum permitted length of the fall protection system is 1.8 m. Please always refer to the permitted attachment area (39) on the power tool.

It is best to use the fall protection system with a tape loop secured by an anchor knot or a fall protection system with fall damper.

Please always refer to the operating instructions when attaching the fall protection system (40).

  • Always secure the opposite side of the fall protection system to a stable structure (e.g. a building or scaffolding) and never to the user.
The fall protection system must be able to move freely and may only be attached to the power tool at the fixed anchorage point (41) and in the permitted attachment area (39) .
Select the fixed anchorage point (41) such that the power tool can fall freely into the fall protection system without wrapping around or putting the user at risk of harm in the event of a fall.
Never use the utility hook (13) as a fall protection system.
Never attach the fall protection system to the utility hook.
Never use the fall protection system on a power tool which has been fitted with the GDE 18V-16 or GDE 16 Plus dust extraction attachments.
