GOP 250 OR GOP 300?

Is there much difference between the GOP 250 multi tool and the new GOP 300? The difference in price seems to be a lot for the sake of an extra 50 watts of power and a tool free blade change!

Hi Jonathan.

That is a fair question.

The GOP 250 is an excellent tool aimed at the trades man who will be using it as problem solving tool. On the other hand the GOP 300 is designed for someone who will be using it as their primary tool.
The features present on the 300 make a big difference. The SDS system on the GOP 300 is the only quick change system of its kind and the fastest in the market. I cannot express how simple it is.

In addition those 50w will make have an impact on productivity. The GOP 300 also includes and all metal gear box for heavy duty use and a longer nose to allow additional accessories to be attached.( Light, dust extraction etc. Watch this space. )

Kind regards

I had a GOP 250 delivered this morning and i'm impressed with it in use. I was however looking forward to it arriving in a lovely new 'L-BOX' but it was supplied in a cardboard box instead. I can't understand why Bosch would supply the green diy version with a kit box but not the professional blue tool. I have been informed though that I can BUY an 'L-BOX' for £38. Not so FEIN afterall then!!!!!

if it's not too late maybe you can send it back? then buy a kit instead. EDIT: I realised you said you used it already so my suggestion is no use. Look under the "prices / complete with" tab and there are two options (110V & 240V) that include an l-boxx: http://www.bosch-professional.com/gb/en/oc...ers/gop-250-ce/

The 250 has gone back and i now have the 300. First job for it in the morning so lets see what the extra 50watts does. looks a nice solid tool though. An LED work light should have been on this tool though.

Hi Jonathan

Congratulations on getting your hands on a GOP 300. I am sure you are going to get on well with it. :) I'ld bet the SDS system will bring a smile to your face the first time you use it. Nothing else like it out there.

About the LED light. We are rolling out a number of different accessories you can attach to the front of the 300. One will be a work light so stay tuned!

Kind regards

I've been using the tool to cut out sections of solid Oak skirting and it cut through with no trouble at all. I can't really detect any noticable difference in the extra 50 watts of power over the GOP 250 though. The SDS quick release lever is really quick to change the blades, it is quite stiff but easily operated. The fact that it is a solid alloy casting is also a good thing, I don't think plastic would have stood the test of time. I look forward to throwing more jobs at this tool in future.

I've been using Japanese saw's for years now so I thought i'd buy a couple of the Japanese style blades for the multi-tool.  They cut timber really well, nice and smoothly and a very clean cut. The best way to get the most out your multi is to buy good quality blades, use a cheap blade and then try a good quality one and the difference is instant.

Warning.

The GOP 300 manual states that you get a 3 piece kit included which extends the use of the tool but you do NOT. The lack of these parts severely limits the interchangeability of attachments (IMO) and reduces the usefulness of the tool.

I wrote to Bosch about this as the parts appear in the sales literature and the user manual, and they stated that they are re-writing the manual and I could send the tool back for a refund.
