How precise is Bosch RM3 motorised mount for lasers?

Hello,
I'm contemplating RM 3, but don't have the opportunity to try before buying. Is it precise enough to move the line in infitesimally small increments?

Say I have two points in a room. One close to the laser, and the other 12 m away. If I want to align the laser with the point 12m away any tiny movement of the laser has a huge impact on the line 12 m away. So does the motorized stand have small enough increments in movement to align it precisely to a point as far as 12 m away?

Hello diygeezer.
Good question. Been considering one of these myself.
The RM3 has 3 speed settings. Fast, slow and a micro stepping function. So It looks pretty accurate. It comes with an infrared remote but, as with the new lasers, can be controlled via bluetooth with the laser app. Nice.
In the videos below, the first one an Australian, the second, Chinese, you can see the movement of the RM3 demonstrated. Looks pretty smooth and accurate to be honest.
Watch the first video from 6:23 in and the second from 2:21 in.

Hi, and thank you for the reply and video recommendations. I've watched them both and talked to a friend in the construction industry who uses RM 3 with GCL 3-50 CG in large commercial building projects, and it's very precise and has close to nano precision, so you can really fine tune the positioning. I'm getting it hoping they don't come out with one which also does fine tuning of height, lol.

I bought the Bosch RM 3 motorized stand today. Going to use it with GLL 3-80 CG and GCL 2-50 CG. I can't believe the accuracy and joy of this base. It should be a mandatory purchase for anyone with a compatible laser. I was able to align the laser to a mm at a 6m distance in a matter of SECONDS with the use of the micro adjustment!

The stand also sits very firmly at the floor, which is awesome as it won't easily come out of alignment over long distances due to minute but detrimental vibrations when in operation. The micro adjustment feets are also awesome when you set the laser up on a surface where it's unable to self level, which is often the case when working outside.

I enjoy the remote a lot, because connecting to bluetooth etc is time consuming and additionally eating away at the battery. (Dear santa, we need a 5Ah 12V battery with small form factor, please Samsung, invent cells to make this possible!). Aditionally, it would have been nice if Bosch made a power supply for the laser so you could run it off the main line when it was suitable for the application.

There is only one small caveat to the stand, which is that the size of the base is large and overlaps a bit of one  of the horisontal lines when using a 3 line 360 laser. It only removes about 20 cm or so along the floor, and although not essential, it would be nice if there was no overlap.

I would rate this 9 out of 10. It's an amazing piece of kit, that makes setting up the lasers a quick and enjoyable task. This is a great innovation. Saves me a ton of running back and forth when setting it up and constantly checking if it's out of alignment.

Get it!
