In / out play with hex extension in GSR18V-60FC driver

Hi...

I recently bought a Bosch GSR18V-60FC driver.

Often I'm happy to put a bit directly into the holder on the end of the driver.  But sometimes I'd like it a little further away, so I use a hex extension ("bit holder"?).

I have a few hex extensions (not Bosch) already, but they all have a small amount of in/out play when placed into the driver's holder.

This isn't just me - bailey shows this in his video at 2:47  https://youtu.be/0P39nz3YLg4?t=167, posted in this thread  https://www.bosch-professional.com/gb/en/community/category/bosch-gsr-18-v-60-fc-review/13464466-t#main (thanks bailey, your video was really helpful in choosing this tool).

I think the holder on the driver keeps the bit in place via a small ball bearing, which is pressed into the side of the bit by the spring loaded sleeve.

This works well when I put a straight sided bit into the driver's holder.

But when I use one of my hex extensions, there is some play.  I'm wondering if that is due to the rounded indents on the shanks of the hex extensions, meaning there is a void where the ball bearing is trying to hold it in place.

I can work around this in various ways (eg hold the hex extension in the optional chuck, rather than straight into the driver holder), but I'm wondering if it is possible to fix this.

If I bought one of the Bosch hex extensions, say 2608522316, would that remove the play?  I see they have the rounded indents also, but perhaps they have a different profile to the ones I already have?

For anyone following along, I bought a Bosch hex extension (2608522316), and... it still has lots of in/out play.  A bit disappointing.  Ah well.
