Hi all
ive picked up a GBH 18v-20 SDS hammer drill as a bare tool in a cardboard box and have a spare empty l-boxx 136 to house it. Does anyone know if it would fit in the insert meant for the GBH 18V-LI/EC ? Possibly with a small amount of trimming?

thanks

I'd quite like an L-Boxx insert for my GBH 18V - 20 too. They obviously exist as these drill are sold with an L-Boxx option.
Any chance of you chiming in on this one Bob? Can't find them anywhere.
Mine came in a bloody great blow molded case!  If anyone wants a blow molded case for this drill btw you can have mine for free if you pay for postage ;)

I'm about to purchase a GBH- 18v EC, is it better than the 18V-20? Or do you pay for the fact that its brushless? How is the battery life compared? TIA

Hi Malky

Thanks for that - looking at the part number this insert seems to be for the GBH 18V-LI which is the model with the sloping knuckle guard. My 18V-20 has an almost vertical Gearbox/Battery section, much like the GBH 18V-EC

Johannvisser - I'm not totally sure of the differences between the "EC" and 18V-20 models (appart from the obvious brushless motor) but basic performance is pretty well matched. I would say I'd been tempted by the EC version as I've been very happy with other Bosch Brushless tools. However I spotted an GBH 18V-20 on offer during the recent 'Black Friday' madness and bought that instead.

Hi Malky.
That's the wrong inlay mate. The 60828504LW inlay is for the compact SDS - the GBH 18v  Li CP.

To address my previous response, I was actually think of the wrong bloody drill! It's the GBH 18v-26 I have and wouldn't mind tracking down an L-Boxx insert for. I'll probably cut my own from tool foam to be honest.

As for which SDS is better, the 18v-EC or the 18V-20, I'd say I'm not particularly sold on the 18V-20 and any perceived advantage it has (a claimed slightly larger drilling capacity) is unconvincing when you see the machine.
My advice would be to shop around online and find a deal on a GBH 18V-26. You can find bare versions of these often for around the same price or better than an 18V-20! And it's by far the better drill. Much more comfortable to use for longer periods and optimised for the Eneracer and new ProCore batteries so a lot more bang for your buck if you have or plan to get these batteries in the future. Note that I'm talking about the GBH 18V-26, not the GBH 18V-26 F which has the changeable chuck. The "F" is much harder to find sub 200 quid deals on.

Hi bailey

Yes - totally agree regarding the GBH 18V 26, and if I was doing a lot of heavy duty drilling this would be the one I’d be looking for. However, as I only occasionally need SDS and rarely the chisel feature AND I picked up the 18V 20 for just over £100 I couldn’t justify the extra expense.

I’ve seen some inserts for the 26F around on eBay today and wonder if that would also fit your Hamer drill? See image.

As as for me - I’ve ordered the inlay for the EC and I’ll let you all know if I can squeeze the 18V-20 into it once it arrives
